Accurate Effective Dates Help Ensure Your Employees Are Covered

Any employers who use the online Enroll & Update tool on the Excellus BlueCross BlueShield website to enroll a new employee in medical or dental plans must select the correct effective date in the online tool a date that is in alignment with the new employee’s waiting period for coverage. If the wrong effective date is selected by the employer in the online Enroll & Update tool, the new employee may have a delay in coverage!

For example, sometimes employers use the date they submit the request in the online Enroll & Update tool as the effective coverage date for coverage for their new employee when new employees are eligible for medical following 45 days of employment and eligible for dental following 90 days of employment.

Even though it’s the employer’s responsibility to enroll their employees correctly, we want to do all we can to make the enrollment process as simple and straightforward as possible for you. So rather than enroll your new employees with the wrong effective dates, please contact Excellus BCBS Customer Care if you have questions about which dates to apply or need help submitting forms via the web.
